Very Good. 0x0x0. 2003 signed and inscribed first edition dPress (Sebastopol, Ukraine / Russia), 6 7/8 x 8 5/8 inches tall stapled paperbound in full color printed covers, 37 pp. Very slight rubbing and moderate edgewear to covers, with very slight creasing to the fore edge of the rear cover. On the blank verso of the front cover, nicely signed by the author, renowned Buddhist teacher Kunga Dawa, also known as Richard Arthure (1940-2018), with a small ink illustration and inscription to the prior owner, noted composer, pianist and vocalist Ryoko Amadee Goguen (1957-2017). Otherwise, a very good copy - clean, bright and unmarked. Rare, especially signed. OCLC (No. 439864923) locates only one copy at institutions worldwide - at the University of California Davis. ~OOO~ [1.0P] Poet and Buddhist teacher Kunga Dawa (1940-2018), also known as Richard Arthure, met the pioneering Buddhist teacher Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche in England in 1966 and served as his private secretary for several years. In 1968, Dawa was with Rinpoche when he composed the Sadhana of Mahamudra, an important contemporary Buddhist text. Dawa co-composed the text?s English language translation. Dawa became the first westerner trained and authorized by Trungpa Rinpoche to teach meditation and Buddhism and was a co-founder of Karme Choling retreat center in Vermont.
