London: Elek, 1953 Apparent First edition (no mention of any other printings). Maroon boards with gold lettering, good corners and binding, sun bleached at top and bottom of spine where dj missing. Pages somewhat yellowed. The clipped DJ is chipped with loss at top of spine, has two inch tear down spine side and is missing bottom two inches of spine cover plus two and a half by two inch triangle at side of front panel. Detailed and exciting story of escape, capture and imprisonment of this RAF navigator during World War II and his daring activity within the camp to smuggle out information regarding German troop movements.
