A rare New Edition published by Henry Frowde, Hodder and Stoughton, London in FAIR condition. Copyright by Richard Clay & Sons. Book is complete, however; page 15/16 is detached and laid in. There is a 16 pp. Catalogue at the end of the book. Boys and Girls Books by this publisher. Binding has numerous deficiencies including tears along the spine with tears at the bottom front and the top back. The edges and corners are worn with dents along the back edges. There is some chipping on the oblong spine paste down as well as scratches and a piece missing on the front. The only writing inside is a gift inscription from Momma on the ffep. There are stains inside and bent pages at the top. There are four color illustrations by W. B. Handforth. Two have water stains along the top and bottom edges. There are also numerous black and white illustrations which look to me like etchings by another artist. The front hinge is cracked at the title page, photographed. Book has a slight old paper smell but not mildewy.
