September 1919 reprint of book originally published in 1902. Decorative binding designed by Margaret Armstrong. Rubbing to board edges with a few small dents. Small stains to spine panel. Toned rectangular marks to front pastedown and front free endpaper where newspaper clipping was kept. Some side page edges very jagged. Writing on front free endpaper "Bought at the E.C.S. Book Auction. . ." and previous owner's name and address. Internal pages unmarked.
Synopsis
Sometimes short stories are brought together like parcels in a basket. Sometimes they grow together like blossoms on a bush. Then, of course, they really belong to one another, because they have the same life in them.
