About This Item

New York: Grosset & Dunlap, 1931. Early reprint. Hardcover. Very good -. 350 pp. Octavo. [21 cm]. Green cloth over boards with red stamped title on front board and spine. Deckled edges. Top and bottom edges are heavily sunned and rubbed, most noticeable at front board. Boards peeking through all corners, and boards are exposed at bottom edge of front board, tail of spine, and rear board. Head of spine is frayed with boards exposed. Spine slightly rolled. First few leaves are soiled and toned. Dust jacket is in good + condition, with a small loss to one corner and more noticeable losses along top edge. Loss at head of spine measures 3 cm at longest point. 10 cm closed tear at front panel spine edge and spine edge at rear panel has been repaired with tape at interior. Reprint from Grosset & Dunlap, but copyright page remains unchanged from first edition, likely to save on costs. Writing long before the beat generation, this is Tully's final installment in his five volume autobiographical series he named "The Underworld". He recounts his youth spent as a street kid and the brawls, adventures, and mishaps that ensued there.
