First American edition, with dust jacket, published by Nan Talese - Doubleday, 2000. Winner of the Man Booker Prize. The story of sisters Iris and Laura Chase, as remembered by Iris in old age. From their early childhood, youth, middle age. Slowly revealing the pivotal events of their lives through the novel-within-a-novel, 'The Blind Assassin' of the title. This is not a remainder, not a library discard. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages. The dust jacket is intact and is not price clipped. There is a short closed tear of about 1/2" inch at the top edge of the jacket. Jacket has been protected with a clear, removable cover. Light brown colored boards with dark brown cloth covered spine, with the author name and title imprinted on the spine in gold. Boards are flat, the corners are not bumped or creased. Sewn binding is tight and square. One very light smudge mark to the top edge of the text block. Attached photo is of the copy we have in our inventory.
Synopsis
The Blind Assassin is an award winning, bestselling novel by the Canadian author Margaret Atwood. It was first published by McClelland and Stewart in 2000. Set in Canada, it is narrated from the present day, referring back to events that span the twentieth century. The work was awarded the Booker Prize in 2000 and the Hammett Prize in 2001. It was also nominated for Governor General's Award in 2000, Orange Prize for Fiction, and the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award in 2002.
