SIGNED, SECOND PRINTING, New York, Scribner, March 2023. "First Edition" stated on the copyright page with the number line ending in "2" on the next to last page. Signed in the year of publication by the Author with the inscription "To Jim with regards Tony Hillerman (Christmas, 1970)". His signature is his early one with a straight line across the T of Tony. A Near Fine Book in a Near Fine Dust Jacket which shows some edge wear, especially at the ends of the spine, color is bright except for some sunning of the spine, not price-clipped ($4.95), in a Brodart protective cover. Text Clean, no marks. Boards show no flaws, no bumps, very lightly faded. Binding is square and firm. A very nice copy of Hillerman's first novel introducing Joe Leaphorn of the Navajo Nation Police.
