About This Item

New York: Knopf, 2008. First Edition, First Printing. . Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. In his fifth novel, former award-winning journalist Darnton captures perfectly the "beginning of the end" days of a big city newspaper where an unloved but powerful editor is found murdered in the newsroom on a rainy September morning. Priscilla Bollingsworth, a young NYPD detective, teams up with Jude Hurley, a clever, rebellious reporter, to search for a killer, an effort complicated by several additional corpses. Boards and text are clean and unmarked, tight and square; the dustjacket shows a touch of soiling and edgewear. Collectable.

Synopsis

John Darnton has worked for forty years as a reporter, editor, and foreign correspondent for The New York Times . He was awarded two George Polk Awards for his coverage of Africa and Eastern Europe, and the Pulitzer Prize for his stories that were smuggled out of Poland during the period of martial law. He is a best-selling author whose previous novels include Neanderthal and The Darwin Conspiracy . He lives in New York.
