Scholarly study on the origin, nature and behaviour of the Chinese People's Republic and the Chinese Revolution. C. P. Fitzgerald was Professor in Far Eastern History in the Australian National University, Canberra. Fitzgerald was born in London in 1902, and educated at Clifton College, Bristol. He lived in China with brief breaks from 1923-1939, and for four years after the war, from 1946 ro 1950. He held the Leverhulme Fellowship for anthropological research in China from 1936 to 1939 and worked in Tali, in Yunnan province. After the war he was the representive of the British Council in North China. Made and printed in Great Britain by Richard Clay and Company, Ltd. Suffolk. 288 pages. Few bookstore marks..
