The Natural Science Association Of America. Very Good. 1888. Hardcover. Small folio in leather: 1/2 blue niger over brown leatherette (? ) cloth covers, five raised bands on spine, bright gilt lettering on spine, all edges (of pages) gilt and bright, very tight spine/binding, sits squarely, straight with no warp; the pages very clean, bright and unfoxed, none are torn, the covers may have the slightest of rubbing at tips, title page lightly toned with small signature(child's? ) and the same signature on the margin of a plate, very fait water (? ) staining of pages, infrequent faint smudging, else the book is about VG-. Solid and handsome copy. Contains all 119 colored plates of birds, most depict scenes or groups of birds in color, all on heavy paper. This is not the first edition which came out in l978? And was in two volumes with a different publisher. The author was president of the Natural Science Association of America and this association undertook the re-publishing of the original work prepared among others Frank Chapman, curator of the Natural History museum in New York City. Pictures available upon request. A heavy tome and not available for air post. .
