Difficult to find an early edition with an intact dust jacket. Both the dust jacket and copyright page denote the number of copies of the book of the book. Red cloth pictorial boards, showing a girl with crutches on the cover. The image is repeated on the dust jacket. Moderate soiling to top and bottom edge of book. head and tail of spine worn. Previous owners gift inscription on first free endpaper, dated 1911. Toning and offsetting from dust jacket on paste downs. List of works on last page ends with Wiggin's "Nine Love Songs and a Carol, " which was published in 1896. Dust jacket is tattered and missing pieces. Kate Douglas Wiggin (September 28, 1856 – August 24, 1923) was an American educator and author of children's stories, most notably the classic children's novel Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm. With her sister during the 1880s, she also established a training school for kindergarten teachers.
