London: George Routledge and Sons, 1875. Leather. Good. 9" by 6". None. A selection of critical and biographical essays from contributions originally made to the North American Review. Featuring a frontispiece of William H. Prescott with tissue guard. Prescott is widely recognised by historiographers to have been the first American scientific historian. He became one of the most eminent historians of 19th century America. In original half calf binding with marbled boards. Externally, a trifle rubbed to extremities and spine. Front joint is starting. Both hinges are slightly strained but firm. Internally, pages are bright and clean, aside front spotting to the text block edge, not encroaching on text. Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
