Deckled edge. Bound in decorated red cloth-covered boards (boards a little rubbed at edges, rounded at spine tips, spotted on upper text block edge, hint of toning to text block edges). Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original dust jacket (bumped at edges, a little chipped on lower leading corner and around base of spine, spine faded). Not price clipped. The dust jacket protected in an archival-quality mylar wrapper, fitted without the use of tape or adhesives. Leonard Cyril Deighton is a British author whose works include cookery books, history and military history, but he is best known for his spy novels, including the series featuring the unnamed Harry Palmer. Synopsis

After having been recruited by Harvey Newbegin, the narrator travels from the bone-freezing winter of Helsinki, Riga and Leningrad, to the stifling heat of Texas, and soon finds himself tangling with enemies on both sides of the Iron Curtain.
