Large 4to ( 11 1/4 x 11"), cloth backed flexible pictorial card covers, near fine. When little Elsje's Mother sees her mistreating her little Black doll she yells at her to stop. Elsje angrily walks away and suddenly is confronted by her doll that is now human sized, wearing a crown and leading an army of Black soldiers. They take Elsje and tie her to a cart to bring her to stand before her doll-king who lectures her about how to treat others, which she tearfully learns. When she returns home her doll is waiting for her. Illustrated by the author with 6 fine, richly colored full page lithos and 8 pictorial text pages. Scarce.
