About This Item

London: Oxford University Press, 1941. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. (London: Oxford University Press 1941). First UK Edition in First Issue D/W. Note: this is the "true" first "thick" edition in the correct first issue D/W with the titles in brown to the rear panel. Publisher's plum-coloured boards with black lettering and decorations to the front board and spine and red top edge. The book itself is a VG copy (which has been red) with foxing to the page block edges (whish has crept into the text block in places) and to the early/late pages of the book. The red top edge is partially faded. The spine edges are just a touch rubbed. The D/W is priced 4/- net to the inside flap (as called for) and is a totally original unrestored, near fine example. There are several tiny, insignificant holes to the front cover and spine but overall this is an outstanding example (with no restoration). A title seldom found in collectable condition and this one has lasted the test of time really well. Rare. Photographs/scans available upon request.
