About This Item
Synopsis
The Big Money is the final book in John Dos Passos's U.S.A. Trilogy. Here we come back to an America in an economic boom after the war. We watch the rise of the stock market and industrialism. The characters of the novel see Lindbergh take his solo flight and Henry Ford creates factories to churn out automobiles. John Dos Passos uses different narrative techniques to evoke the emotions of the reader in this experimental series. The twelve characters in the trilogy are introduced via fictional narratives telling their life stories, newspaper clippings, song lyrics, short biographies of figures from the public eye, and the characters' own autobiographical stream of consciousness writing.
