A series of photographic portraits of important buildings in New York City Hamilton Maxwell Inc., NY October 1924. "An Aerial Photograph of Manhattan..." Every page is a named building in New York City, from the Battery to 59th St. at Central Park. There are 8 superb folding aerial photographs of Manhattan and the boroughs by Hamilton Maxwell Inc., a New York firm.
Consolidated Gas expanded and eventually acquired steam, gas and electric companies (including Edison's) serving New York City and Westchester County. It will become Consolidated Edison Company of New York in the mid-1930s. "By 1932, New York Edison's parent company, Consolidated Gas, was the largest company in the world providing electrical service," concludes the company website. "In 1936, with electric sales far ahead of gas sales, Consolidated Gas changed its name to the Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc." [American Oil & Gas Historical Society]

The folded leaves contain the aerial photographs (by Hamilton Maxwell, Inc.); the frontispiece contains the 1924 view, the others being details from, presumably, the 1925 view. Sml. 4to, original charcoal colored paper over boards, label on the front board, hand lettered title on spine. Some loss to spine head and foot, corners rubbed through, some marking on boards.
