[8], 211,[1] pp. Gold publisher’s boards, dark burgundy lettering on spine (slight dustsoiling to upper fore-edge), w/d.j. cover art by Peter Rauch (very slight shelfwear), NF/NF copy, signed by author on title. First edition, stated & signed by the author, of this anthology of stories containing the self-named novelette winner of both Hugo and Nebula Awards for best science fiction. The story set within Asimov’s Robot series universe contains echoes of Collodi’s Pinocchio, as well as his further explorations into the nature of humanity. Adapted into the 1999 film directed by Chris Columbus fo Columbia Pictures, starring Robin Williams, and screenplay by Asimov & Silverberg. Other stories explore the implications of the death of the President of the United States at the Tricentennial in 2076, or was it his robot doppelganger.
