Privately printed, first edition, 1960. Limited edition of 750 copies. Cloth, large 8vo,. 429 pp. Approximately 35,000 entries. Based largely on the compiler's library of some 5,400 books on the British flora and on his collection of periodicals, the work was completed in 1950, although additions were made whilst the book was in the press. Foreign works which include references to British plant records are included. Part I, containing Catalogues; Distribution; Economic; Families, genera, and species; Floras; Herbals; Periodicals; Plant lore; Reference; Trees, is arranged alphabetically within the sections. Part II, covering plant records, is arranged chronologically within its geographical subdivisions. Ex-library, withdrawn stamps and library marks, label on rear endpaper and abrasion from label removal on front endpaper, covers a little marked and faded, head and tail of spine bumped.
