About This Item
London: Simpkin Marshall Ltd, 1936. Hardcover. Stated "Second Edition." 5 x 7.5in. viii. 269pp. Publisher's cloth boards. Signed and inscribed by the editor and transcriber, the wife of the author Gertrude "Biddy" Hobbs Chambers, on the front free endpaper: "To Dr. Clauwille, with best wishes, B. Chambers, May 13, 1936." Biddy Chambers was an integral part of Oswald's ministry and would transcribe, write, and edit each of his sermons as they were delivered. VERY GOOD in Very Good dust jacket protected in a removable archival cover. The book itself shows the tone with a suggestion of toning, endpapers with light even toning, preliminaries ever so slightly foxed up to the title, otherwise the binding is strong and tight, the text remains clean and unmarked, and the boards are bright and distinct. The dust jacket shows slight shelf rubbing of the extremities, spine lightly tanned with some rubbing, otherwise remains bright and distinct. As pictured.
