The text is illustrated with numerous black-and-white photographs, cartoons, posters, and documents. Maroon coloured boards with white coloured titles to the backstrip. Illustrated dustwrapper, by Danny Burke, with white coloured background and black coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. " The era 1919-39 saw more dramatic changes than any other period in Australia's history." -- from the front fold panel. In these 20 years Australia went from great prosperity to worldwide depression and at the beginning of a resurgence of prosperity again this threat of a global war. . Rubbing of the book edges with some white coloured marks to the top edge of the front panel. Age toning of the text block edges. A little erosion to the top edge of the front end page. Creasing of the dustwrapper edges with some discolouration also present. Sunning of the back strip with the closest quarter inch of the front panel also discoloured. A few tears and grubby marks to the dustwrapper edges. A few foxing spots to the verso. This is the first Australian edition.
