Thousand Islands 1897 was a tournament of the New York State Chess Association and consisted of a double-round tournament between Steinitz, Napier and Lipschutz and a Scheveningen-style team tournament of 7 players each from Pennsylavia and New York state, with players including Pillsbury, Hodges and Shipley..
