London: Sampson Low, Marston, Searle & Rivington, 1882. Book. Illus. by 3 Color Folding Maps, 29 Full Page Plates and 163 Text Engravings. Very Good Plus. Decorative Cloth. First Edition in English. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. "Description of a Journey into Central and West Africa, Comprising ...Surveys of the Sources of the Rivers Cunene, Cubango, Luando, Cuanza and Cuango , and of Great Part of the Course of the Two Latter".. The authors were officers of the Royal Portuguese Navy, exploring in 1877- 1880. This expedition attempted to explore and claim the lands between Portuguese colonies Angola and Mozambique. Pages liii,395 and xv, 351 plus 32 pages publisher ads. Both volumes have been professionally repaired outside on the corners, hinges and spine ends. Now protected in clear, mylar dustjackets. Inside repairs were not needed as the paper blocks are solid, and free of stains or foxing. A RARE set, no other copies on the internet at this writing..
