About This Item

Benares: The Kashi Tirth Sudhar Trust. Very Good- with no dust jacket. 1931. First Edition; First Printing. Hardcover. A very good hardback book, green cloth with a black printed paper label to the spine and black printed with decoration to the front cover. Roughly 6.5" high by 10" wide (landscape style) . Some very light shelfwear to the corners and head/tail of the spine, but no damage. Very good, generally clean, sound covers. A gentle 'wave' to the whole book but which is hardly noticable. Internally, a former owner's details to the top front corner of the front free endpaper been partially cut off, but a name and "Benares 15 July '45" is still present in ink, otherwise unmarked throughout. (xxx) + (1) + 154 pages + (1 blank). A fascinating work, comprising geological surveys, a historical overview, and a detailed survey of the ghats with printed sepia photographs on every other page, line drawings. Diagrams, Map of Benares, etc,. The Appendices detail the work and cost involved which is needed to be done in order to restore them when necessary, etc. WorldCat/OCLC 5973 7532. Wonderful historical information and images. Fascinating. See Photos. ; Oblong Small 4to 8" - 10" long .
