About This Item
New York, London and Bombay: Longmans Green & Co, 1897. First Edition. Near Fine. First edition, first printing with title page dated 1897 and copyright page dated 1896. Bound in publisher's original green cloth with paper spine label, gilt top edge, lacking the dust jacket. Near Fine with light mottling to spine cloth, light wear at corners and spine ends. Pages toned and with light scattered foxing. A much nicer copy than normally encountered. A philosophical essay collection that marks the first book publication of "The Will to Believe," a still-controversial meditation on faith and reason.
