London: Macmillan and Co., Limited, 1913. 1st Edition. Hardcover. 3 vols. 495p; 447p; A set of three hardcover books bound in green cloth. Volume II and III's spines are a bit faded. The heads of the spines on volumes I and II are lightly worn, with quarter-inch closed tears. Endpapers and title pages foxed in volume I. Endpapers tanned in volumes II and III. Otherwise, text clean and binding secure across the set. Very good condition overall. First edition of this work by James G. Frazer, author of THE GOLDEN BOUGH. Volume II is stamped "presentation copy" by the publisher. The Gifford Lectures, St. Andrews, 1911-1912. The volumes were published in 1913, 1922, and 1924, respectively.
