About This Item
FIRST EDITION in dust jacket. The two rear endpapers seem to have been excised, otherwise the book is about fine. The price-clipped dust jacket has minimal wear at the edges and a small chip missing along the top of the front panel. From the half-title page: 'The strange career of Captain Hugh Bourne, ace by a fantastic whim of fortune, exhibitionist and philanderer by circumstance. He rose to dazzling heights as a Hollywood casting director on the generosity of a great hearted woman star . . .' Altogether, an unusual Hollywood novel - The 'author's' name probably refers to a WWI airfield outside Ft. Worth, of the same name, used to train Canadian pilots. The book is dedicated to Don Ryan, a well-know Hollywood and TV writer. The books contents are equal parts Hollywood, flying and, as the book description calls it, philandering. Possibly a roman a clef.
