About This Item

New York, NY: Harper and Row, Publishers , 1967 Harper and Row, Publishers, New York. 1967. Hardcover. Rebound copy; does not appear to be ex-lib. Later printing. Book is tight, square, and unmarked. Book Condition: Fine; with laminated DJ front panel affixed to the front board. No DJ. Red buckram boards and spine with bright white lettering on the spine. 243 pp 8vo. This book consists of first hand impressions and observations of conditions in Hanoi and North Vietnam from December 23-January 7 1967 written by a correspondent for the NY Times as newspaper articles. He spends time with government officials, visits war museums, sees material moving to the front, discusses bombing and its effects and countermeasures, the participation of children in national defense, and holds a discussion with Premier Pham Van Dong. War strategy is also discussed. One of the few reports that gives some balance to the bombing aspects of the war as most were biased communist propaganda. A clean very presentable copy.
