Four of the stalwart characters from the comic's inception until its cessation in 1993: Ginger, Pop,Dick and Harry, Baby Crockett, and The Banana Bunch appear in this Annual - the Annual appearing for another few more years,with the 2003 annual (2002) as the last of its kind.A British children's Annual to tie-in with the long-running weekly children's comic 'The Beezer',that has been published every year since 1956. The comic merged with the 'Cracker' and 'Plug' comic strips in 1976 and 1979 respectively.It was then, renamed into 'The Beezer and Topper' on merging with 'The Topper',in 1990,and publication ceased in 1993 eventually.After the comic's closure, some of its characters appeared in 'The BEANO' and 'The DANDY'. Forty-six Annuals were published over the years. Traditionally published in the autumn and in time for Christmas,since 1965 they had the date of the following year on the cover.Before then no date was given.The Annual's original title was 'The Beezer Book for Boys and Girls',though the 'for Boys and Girls' part was used rarely,and made its last appearance on the front of the 1966 annual.This annual also coincided with the introduction of the year to the front cover: this annual was called 'The Beezer Book for Boys and Girls 1966',while next year's was called 'The Beezer Book 1967'. This name continued,with just the year changing for each different annual,until the release of the 2003 book in 2002,when it was renamed to its final name 'THE BEEZER ANNUAL',with the following year still appearing at the end of the title.
