About This Item

W.Collins Sons & Co. Ltd, London 1921-1924. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. First Editions (first printings). Individual volumes as follows: 'The Beautiful Years. A Tale of Childhood'. (1921). First edition. 8vo. 252pp + [iv] publisher's advertisements at the rear. Blue cloth lettered in orange at the spine and upper board with a double ruled border. Embossed 'Review Copy' stamp to the title page. Top edge dust marked, and with just a hint of spotting to the top- and fore edge. Free endpapers browned and with just a tiny hint of wear to the backstrip ends. Very good indeed. The author's first book, of which 750 copies were printed. 'Dandelion Days' (1922). First edition. 8vo. 299pp + [vi] publisher's advertisements bound in at the rear. Blue cloth lettered in orange at the spine and upper board with a double rule. Spine ends worn with a little further wear to the corner tips. Free endpapers lightly browned and with some fox spotting to three or four preliminary and concluding leaves. A very good copy of the author's third book, of which 600 copies were printed. 'The Dream of Fair Women. A Tale of Youth after the Great War'. (1923). First edition. 8vo. 409pp + [xii] publisher's advertisements. Blue cloth lettered in orange at the spine and upper board with a double rule. Embossed 'Review Copy' stamp to the title page. The binding cracked and a little tender at the half-title, and with just a trace of wear to the backstrip ends. Edges lightly spotted and with a further scattering of very light spotting to two or three preliminary leaves. A very good copy of the author's fifth book, of which 750 copies were printed. A super set of the first three volumes of the 'Flax of Dream' sequence, lacking the highly fugitive dust wrappers (the final volume, 'The Pathway', was issued some years later under the Jonathan Cape imprint). Due to Williamson's incessant tinkering none of these texts were ever reprinted in these original forms..
