About This Item
[NY]: Simon & Schuster, 1998. First Edition, first printing. Signed presentation from Nasar on the title page: "May 1998. To Avinash with much gratitude and even more affection, Sylvia." This biography was made into a movie of the same name- a 2001 American biographical drama based on the life of the American mathematician John Nash, a Nobel Laureate in Economics and Abel Prize winner. The film was directed by Ron Howard, from a screenplay written by Akiva Goldsman. It was inspired this Pulitzer Prize-nominated book by Sylvia Nasar, an economics correspondent for The New York Times. Avinash Kamalakar Dixit is an Indian-American economist. He is the John J. F. Sherrerd '52 University Professor of Economics Emeritus at Princeton University, and has been Distinguished Adjunct Professor of Economics at Lingnan University (Hong Kong), senior research fellow at Nuffield College, Oxford and Sanjaya Lall Senior Visiting Research Fellow at Green Templeton College, Oxford. The author thanks Dixit (and others) in the "Acknowledgments" section of the book. who shared "insights about game theory and served as valuable sounding boards." The movie won four Academy Awards, for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress. It was also nominated for Best Actor, Best Film Editing, Best Makeup, and Best Original Score. Illustrated.. Near fine (covers nice & bright with very minor bump to lower corners; contents clean & tight); very nice d/j.
