Quarter blind-embossed brown calf with gilt lettering and grey cloth. 416pp. Frontispiece, full-page illustrations, marbled page edges. Very good. Faint binding wear only, else tight and internally near fine; 1898 nonauthorial gift inscription on front pastedown. A lovely first edition of this biography and tribute to the just-deceased founder of the Woman's Temperance Christian Union, reformer and suffragette. A "Who's Who" of educators and reformers contribute brief tributes, including Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Mary A. Livermore, Susan B. Anthony, Dwight L. Moody, Booker T. Washington, Theodore L. Cuyler, Elizabeth Stuart Phelps Ward, Maud Ballington Booth and others.
