Signed on the verso of the half-title by Virginia Woolf in her characteristic purple ink. Quarter bound in publisher's red cloth over gray boards, gilt lettering on spine, Dwiggins illustration on paste-down on cover, t.e.g. Illustrated with drawings and page decorations by W. A. Dwiggins. Printed and bound by The Printing House of William Edwin Rudge. This is Woolf's celebrated and amusing account of the 19th-century English dandy and arbiter of fashion, and his unfortunate end. Woolf's essay was first published in the Nation & Athenaeum, a British weekly newspaper, on September 28, 1929. This is the first edition in book form. In its original green slipcase with a Dwiggins paste-down on cover. . The volume is in perfect, pristine condition, unmarked, tight, square and clean. The slipcase is worn and soiled, and beginning to separate at some seams, but holding. FINE.. Drawings and Decoration. 4to 11" - 13" tall. (iv), 8, (2) pp. Signed by Author .
