Limited "Private Edition", # 51 of 227 copies with an original etching by Sharp bound-in. SIGNED by the author on title-page. Embossed full tan leather, with gilt stamped leather spine label. Quarto. 12 x 10". 359pp. A beautifully illustrated biographical study of this noted Southwestern artist (1859-1953) chiefly famous for his portraits of Pueblo Indians. Introductory essay by Fred A. Rosenstock. Includes a list of paintings with 4,739 entries, (alphabetical by title), bibliography and index. A couple dark spots to top of spine and light stain on rear panel; rear end-paper has scant evidence of moisture exposure. In slipcase that has wear and corresponding staining. Etching and interior fine.
