About This Item
1918. unbound. Frederick Strothmann. Original Poster. Color Lithograph. Measures 30 x 20".

Intense war poster of a German soldier with bloody bayonet and fingers clawing over the title banner. The word is a derogatory word towards the Germans that derives from the nomadic tribe, the Huns, in the 4th and 6th century AD, known for their barbaric and warlike invasions. Some toning and crumpling of edges, does not affect image. Frederick Strothmann (1872-1958) was an American artist and illustrator, this poster is his only known WWI propaganda piece and a testament to his talent as an artist.
