About This Item
Garden City, New York: Doubleday & Company, 1975. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Volume itself has red and black covers with gilt lettering on the spine. There is a touch of wear at the head and tail of the spine and the top of the pages are brown speckled. 249 pages, including an index. The dust jacket is protected in an archival quality cover. It, the dj, has some age toning and chipping at the outer corners and wear at the top and bottom of the spine. The author in this work captures the essence of the final desperation of the Civil War in his description of the intense fighting that characterized the Battle of the New Market. Few medium-sized engagements of the Civil War had more long-range importance and effect on affairs of both North and South than the 1864 battle fought in the rain at New Market. A quite nice copy; available for immediate shipment, carefully packed in a sturdy box!
