Octavo, vii, [2], 528pp, i-xvi. Red cloth, title in gilt on spine. Top edge dyed black. Stated "Published August 23, 1943 / First, Second, and Third Printings Before Publication" on copyright page. Solid text block, lightly bumped corners. Features a fold-out map at the front of the volume in near fine condition. In the publisher's very good dust jacket, $3.95 retail price on front flap, small loss to rear cover, chipped along top edge. A scarce example. Jacket art by Jean Carlu. A first hand account of the Sino-Japanese War. Also published as China Correspondent the same year.
