Reviews

On Aug 8 2017, Cynthiahintz said:
All Georgette Heyer books are gems! But this one is a diamond. What fun! When the Old Earl dies he leaves such a tangle for his beloved Serena, and the worst of it is he has appointed the Marquis of Rotherham as his daughter's trustee. He is to manage not just her money but her choice of husband or she'll not see her inheritance other than pinmoney. Rotherham, whom she jilted -- Rotherham, whom she hates and can't meet without butting heads! Serena and her young mother-in-law, Fanny, decide to settle in Bath, away from society. But it is there Serena meets and renews an old love; the two are quickly engaged. Yet why the news of Rotherham's fast engagement to a young 17-year-old causes no end of distress to Serena, young Fanny cannot fathom. That is the main plot of the book, but Georgette Heyer is an author who writes with subplots and intrigue and humor. Her many characters are very well defined, mostly through dialog, and she is a master of dialog and wit. There is so much to Bath Tangle this brief review can't touch on except to say it's a one of my favorites. But then it's Georgette Heyer.
