Rutland, Vermont: The Tuttle Publishing Company, Inc., 1937. 1937. RARE. Very Good+ in better than Good, price-intact, dust jacket. The only marking is a small penciled notation on front endpaper. Pages clean and fine. Bound in orange cloth hardcover with black stamping on front and spine. Slight rubbing and color fade along edges; small, faint spot on front cover, otherwise cover is fine. Dust jacket is clean and colorful - lightly rubbed, spine slightly toned, small chips to spine ends, flap corners. Inverse of jacket is toned along spine with short closed vertical tears along front spine fold. Jacket is in a clear archival protector. Binding firm - slight lean or slant to spine but hinges tight and intact. An unjustly forgotten work, likely because of the unfortunate title. This is a nicely written "autobiography" of a Fox Terrier, born during the years of the Nazi regime, who leaves Germany when he is sent as a Christmas gift to the United States. His first home in America is New England but he later travels to North Carolina. Charming B&W line illustrations throughout are by the author. A unique and now extremely rare find! 5 x 7-3/4"; 109 pp. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good+/Good++. Illus. by Van Sickle, Lucy Bannard.
