SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR, AUGUST KOWALCZYK, without dedication or inscription on title-page. Signing reads, 'August Kowalczyk/2002'. 200pp. Illustrated with photographs. The autobiography of Polish actor, and film and television director August Kowalczyk (1921-2012). In 1940 he was arrested in Slovakia while trying to reach France and join the Polish Army, which was in the process of being formed there. He was sent to Auschwitz, but after one and half years manged to escape. After the war he finished secondary school. His debut as an actor was at the Rapsodyczny Theatre in Krakow. From 1952 he played in Warsaw theatres - the Ludowy and Polski. He has appeared in 23 films. A near fine copy of a SCARCE first English edition, first printing SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR..
