About This Item

Gordonsville, Virginia, U.S.A.: St Martins Pr, 1987. Book. Collectible-VG. Hardcover. Signed by Author(s). Sixth Printing.. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Signed on the title page, not inscribed to anyone. Shilts wrote for the San Francisco Chronicle and was the author of The Mayor of Castro Street, about Harvey Milk. Recent studies seem to debunk Shilts premise that Gaetan Dugas, a flight attendant was "patient zero." Very Scarce Signed! Tight and clean, the DJ is price clipped. The volume has a bit of rubbing to the edges as does the DJ. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Synopsis

And the Band Played On: Politics, People, and the AIDS Epidemic is a nonfiction book written by San Francisco Chronicle journalist Randy Shilts, published in 1987. It chronicles the discovery and spread of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) with a special emphasis on government indifference and political infighting—specifically in the United States—to what was initially perceived as a gay disease.
