About This Item

First Edition; A Near Fine book in a Very Good Original dust jacket. A handsome copy of this author's 2nd Science Fiction novel, to be followed eventually by the classic Travis McGee mystery series. This copy is in Near Fine condition with only slight rubbing to the board edges, some faint soiling to the exterior text block, and some very minor off-setting to the endpapers. Housed in a clean and bright very good dust jacket that shows some rubbing and chipping to the spine ends, edges, and corners, a few short tears along the back flap fold, and some light soiling to the back panel. Not remaindered, not price clipped ($2.75 intact), and not ex-library; in a protective Mylar sleeve and will ship in a sturdy box.

Synopsis

Ballroom of the Skies is a 1952 science fiction novel by John D. MacDonald. Though MacDonald was primarily a mystery novelist famed for his Travis McGee series, he did write some science fiction short stories and novels. Other titles include Wine of the Dreamers (1951) and The Girl, the Gold Watch & Everything (1962). The story involves Earth sometime after World War III, with Brazil, Iran, and India as the prevailing superpowers.
