Brewster from his friend J.T.F.” Brewster was a prominent citizen and writer from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Fields’s home town. The author’s greatest achievement was as a publisher (Ticknor & Fields, Fields, Osgood, as well as the Atlantic Monthly), and he was the friend and associate of most of the prominent literati of the day.
