Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. xviii, 180pp with colour plate frontispiece and nine further colour plate illustrated, all tissue-guarded and by Byam Shaw. Green cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering and vignette, top edge gilt all other edges deckled (boards rubbed, rounded and faded at corners and spine ends, with a few mild marks, spine somewhat sunned). A little toning on endpapers and to tissue-guards, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Byam Shaw was one of the leading illustrators of his time, and the illustrations in this vole are among his best - rich, evocative and semi- fantastical. A selection of ancient English bards, songs and minstrels. Large 8vo.
