This book of poetry is set up by the author by seasons beginning with Spring for Book One and proceeding to Book Four with Winter that correlate with his time spent in France during WWI. During this residence he was caught up in WWI. This book of verses is about that experience. The 70 poems in this book describe people, situations and landscapes. Many of the poems are begun or ended with his notes that he took in France and later completed as poems. His deep empathy for the human situation is clear as is his ability to see humor and beauty in everyday things, even at war. A clean very presentable copy.
