Edited and with a 15 page Introduction by Cain biographer, Roy Hoopes. The book is in three parts, each with a lengthy introduction by Roy Hoopes. Taken together Hoopes's essays constitute a concise biography of Cain providing the background (both personal and social) for his fiction. The first section is a collection of satirical newspaper columns written for H. L. Mencken’s American Mercury, very much in the Mencken style. The second section is the heart of the book, and a real treasure, nine short stories. The third part is the long story ,or short novel, Money and the Woman (aka The Embezzler). . First Trade.
