Spine rubbed. In original illustrated paper, by Mihály Biró. 40 p. This journal celebrated the fall of the Socialist Democrat government led by Count Mihály Károlyi through the coup d'état led by Béla Kun on 21 March 1919 and the establishment of the Hungarian Soviet Republic which lasted for 133 days. Virtually all of the Hungarian Avant-garde was recruited by the Communist régime to fill important government posts, including such luminaries as composers Béla Bartók, Zoltán Kodály, poets, painters, philosophers (e.g. Georg Lukács). There were mass demonstrations to celebrate May Day, which are documented here in photographs.
