About This Item
The United States Postal Service honored Ayn Rand on a 33¢ stamp issued April 22, 1999, the 16th stamp in the Literary Art series. Ayn Rand's recognition as a literary giant and the artistry of Nick Gaetano unite here in this unique work with 4 Original "First Day of Issue" envelopes signed by Gaetano. Not a Limited Edition release. This is the only one we've ever seen. Nick Gaetano is a prolific illustrator known for his distinctive art deco style. In addition to his Ayn Rand postage stamp, he has designed for magazines, advertising, book covers, logos, posters, and hooked rugs. Other Ayn Rand related works of Gaetano include covers for Atlas Shrugged, The Fountainhead, Anthem, We the Living, Philosophy: Who Needs It, Capitalism: the Unknown Ideal, The New Intellectual, The Early Ayn Rand, The Romantic Manifesto, and The Virtue of Selfishness. In 2002, the original art for the Anniversary Editions of The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged sold at auction, by QCFA, for $118,000. Measures 12" x 23" Book #Cv2309. $1100. From the world's largest collection of rare, signed, manuscript, and photographed Ayn Rand.
