Worcester, MA, 1800. unbound. 1 page, 12.75 x 7.75 inches, Worcester, Massachusetts, August 5, 1800, signed "I. Thomas" to Messrs. Thomas & Thomas, Booksellers, in part: "...When you wrote last it appeared you had not received my last letters, nor the Copies of our Settlement papers, which have been sent you. The paper made for Nisi Prius is as you observe, too thin -- it must be thicker and better made -- the Stuff does not appear to be well beaten -- nor the paper well moulded -- The quality would answer -- it wants more blue -- It will be full good enough for fine Newspapers. I observe by the Proposal that you intend to Select the Spirit only of the Farmer's Museum -- I understood you, that you intended to Select the Spirits of a number of different papers -- I really doubt, whether Extracts from the Museum only will ever find a liberal Subscription -- It will not do to print it if it should not -- The Subscription papers will serve to feel the pulse of the public..." Condition: Minor foxing and discoloration at the margins; otherwise in very good condition. American patriot, newspaper publisher, and printer who performed the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence in Worcester, Massachusetts.
