The 21-year-old Miss Lamb writes to James B. Pond of the Pond Lecture Bureau at a London address. She sends him a circular listing her lectures [not present] and asks to meet with him to discuss the possibility of an American lecture tour. She tells him that she is the adopted daughter of her uncle, the late journalist George R. Sims. "I think the first lecture on the list that is -- 'Off the track in in London With George R. Sims' might be attractive to the people in America. My uncle was one of the greatest authorities on London & I accompanied him on his rambles through many quaint & unknown places in the Metropolis".

Though Pond's reply is discouraging, Miss Lamb had already found material in her London rambles for a lecture tour of South and East Africa and was also lecturing on her African experiences.
